ALBANY, N.Y. – After a week of training camp, the 2023 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) season got underway over the weekend in the Capital Region.
All four of the PLL games this weekend were hosted at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium on the campus of UAlbany. Six former Syracuse University men's lacrosse players were listed on game-day roster or as reserves for the opening week of the season.
Atlas LC - Lost 13-12 vs. Redwoods
Midfielder Brendan Curry finished with one point, scoring on his lone shot of the game. He added a ground ball to his line.
Peter Dearth, a short-stick defensive midfielder for Atlas, grabbed three ground balls and served one penalty.
Drake Porter was a backup goalie for Atlas this weekend, listed on the week one roster.
Cannons LC - Lost 16-13 vs. Archers
Stephen Rehfuss was listed on the week one game day roster as a reserve attackman.
Chaos LC - Lost 8-7 (OT) vs. Waterdogs
Bradley Voigt scored once on two shots as an attackman. Added two ground balls in his season debut against the defending champion Waterdogs.
Whipsnakes LC - Lost 12-11 vs. Chrome
Tucker Dordevic made his professional debut against Chrome, finishing with three points on two one-point goals and one assist. Picked up two ground balls while taking 13 shots.
Week two of the 2023 season sends the PLL south to Charlotte, North Carolina for a four-game set at American Legion Memorial Stadium. Action leads off Friday evening between Chrome and Archers at 6 p.m. followed by Waterdogs and Redwoods at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, Atlas and Whipsnakes clash at 3 p.m. followed by Chaos and Cannons at 5:30 p.m.
