Orange Cross Country Sets 2023 Schedule
7/24/2023 9:50:00 AM | Cross Country
Less than 50 days remain before the Syracuse cross country teams start their 2023 campaigns.
The Orange men's and women's teams are coming off their highest finishes as the NCAA Championships in six and seven years, respectively, and welcome back large portions of the roster to build off for this season.
The team will once again begin the year with a short trip to Colgate for the Harry Lang Invitational (Sept. 2), as it has done for over a decade. Next, 'Cuse will head to Happy Valley for the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational (Sept. 8). Syracuse swept both of those meets last season.
The teams will then get their first look at the eventual NCAA Championships course on Sept. 23. Virginia – host of this year's event – will host the Virginia Challenge on Sept. 23 on the Panorama Farms course.
'Cuse will then conclude September with a trip to the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Sept. 29.
After a weekend off, a pair of meets are scheduled for Oct. 13. Headlined by one of the biggest regular season meets of the year, some members of the team will head to Madison, Wisconsin for the Nuttycombe Invitational. Others will race in the Bronx for the ECAC/IC4A Championships.
The regular season finale will come a week later at the John Reif Memorial (Sept. 20), hosted by Cornell.
This year's ACC Championships will be held on Oct. 27 at Florida State. The Orange men look to better a runner-up finish from a year ago, while the women placed sixth in what was a historically strong field for the league.
The SU men will defend their NCAA Northeast Regional title on Nov. 11. The women's team was the runner-up in 2022. That race will be in the Bronx.
The NCAA Championships will be on Nov. 18 in Charlottesville. Both teams posted top-25 finishes last year, with the men taking 12th and the women finishing 23rd, behind an All-American performance from Savannah Roark.
