Gadsden Makes ACC Preseason Team
8/2/2023 11:00:00 AM | Football
'Cuse tight end Oronde Gadsden II was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
Gadsden, along with teammate Garrett Shrader, was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday. A First Team All-ACC selection a year ago, Gadsden posted one of the most prolific seasons by a sophomore pass catcher in program history last year. In addition to leading all tight ends nationally in receiving yards, he set SU records for most receptions by a sophomore, most receptions by a tight end and most receiving yards by a tight end.
The team was voted on by members of the media who were credentialed at last week's ACC Kickoff event in Charlotte. The preseason team is comprised of just one unit, as opposed to the postseason team, which has three, plus honorable mentions. Eleven schools had a representative on this year's team, with only six fielding multiple selections.
That same group of media also picked the ACC's preseason poll, where Syracuse checked in at No. 10. Under head coach Dino Babers, Syracuse has out-performed its ACC preseason ranking in four of his seven seasons, including each of the past two. They also tied it once (2016) and only finished below their preseason projection in 2019 and the COVID-effected 2020 campaign.
