Camp Notebook: Week 3

The Syracuse football team is less than two weeks away from its season opener vs. Colgate on Sept. 2. Camp is starting to wind down towards the season as the team wrapped up its third full week of training camp this week.

Monday, Aug. 14
The team returned for week three, after taking one of their mandated off days on Sunday. The practice was a shorts and shoulder pads practice. Check out some photos from Monday:
Tuesday, Aug. 15
ACC Network was in town to tape ACC Road Show, a full day of preseason camp with the Orange. The one-hour show featured sit-down interviews with Coach Babers, Garrett Shrader and Oronde Gadsden II, an on-field demonstration with Marlowe Wax Jr. and Caleb Okechukwu, Justin Barron miced up, plus analysis from network hosts Dalen Cuff, Eric Mac Lain and Eddie Royal on the team's 2023 outlook.
The show will re-air multiple times before the opener, with the next ACCN showing coming at 10 a.m. on Monday. However, the replay is available on demand via ACCNX here.
After practice, Coach Babers spoke with the media as part of his weekly media calendar:
Wednesday, Aug. 16
Offensive players were available to the media after Wednesday's practice (photos below).

Thursday, Aug. 17
Another scheduled off day for the Orange as part of planning the preseason calendar to meet NCAA requirements for practices prior to the first game. This time, the team visited Drumlins Country Club for a fun afternoon of golf and pool activities.
Friday, Aug. 18
The team returned to the practice field once again sans full pads in preparation for Saturday's scrimmage. Defensive players had their weekly day with the media after practice.

Saturday, Aug. 19
The second of two preseason scrimmages was held, where the Orange ran around 100 plays - down from 145 in scrimmage one - in around 90 minutes of on-field action.
Super Bowl champion James Mungro stopped by his alma mater to watch the action and spoke to the team afterwards:

Sunday, Aug. 20
The team was off on Sunday and will return to the practice field on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week, plus be in action over the weekend, before Monday's first day of classes and their weekly in-season off day.

Marlowe Wax was added to the Bednarik and Lombardi award watch lists, Garrett Shrader was named to the Manning Award Watch List, Oronde Gadsden II was named one of ESPN's best 100 players, Trebor Pena made Bruce Feldman's Freaks List and Josh Ilaoa earned a spot on the Polynesian Player of the Year Watch List.
