Syracuse opens the home portion of its 2023 season when it hosts Auburn on Thursday, August 24, at 3 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The contest is part of a soccer doubleheader, with the defending national champion Syracuse men's squad welcoming Providence at 7:00 p.m.

The Syracuse-Auburn Series
The Orange and the Tigers have met once previously, on Sept. 5, 2019. In a match played at Auburn, the Tigers prevailed, 2-0.

Syracuse Status:
Syracuse scored two first-half goals within four minutes of each other and went on to defeat Siena, 3-0.

Sophomore Alyssa Adams opened Syracuse's scoring on a header. Reshirt sophomore Erin Flurey followed with a long drive that found the back of the net. Senior Hannah Pilley closed things out with a tally in the second half. Sophomore Shea Vanderbosch has handled the goalkeeper chores in both of Syracuse's outings this fall.

Auburn Status:
Auburn began its year with a 0-0 draw with Samford. The Tigers rebounded their last time out by defeating Troy, 5-0.

Senior Sydney Richards tallied two goals against Troy and Anna Haddock, another senior, contributed a goal and two assists. Senior Maddie Prohaska has started both of Auburn's matches in goal and has yet to yield a score.

Welcome Back Kelly!
Auburn comes to the SU Soccer Stadium with a familiar face in assistant coach Kelly Madsen. A former four-year assistant at Syracuse, Madsen joined the staff of Auburn coach Karen Hoppa in June.

Notable Notes:

Syracuse's squad posted a team grade-point-average of 3.0-or-higher for the fifth straight year in 2022-23 and was honored with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
Junior Emma Klein and sophomore Grace Gillard each have 20 consecutive starts under their belts, the top mark on the Orange roster.
The Atlantic Coast Conference is all over the August 22 United Soccer Coaches Poll with four teams in the top five and seven in the top 25.
