Star tight end Oronde Gadsden II earned another Preseason All-America nod.
Sporting News, one of the five major outlets that comprise the consensus All-America squad, listed the junior on its second team. Earlier this week, the Associated Press tabbed Gadsden as a second team All-American as well.
It's the latest honor for the Maxwell and Biletnikoff Award Watch List member and Preseason All-ACC selection. Gadsden is the top returning tight end nationally in receiving yards. He is also one of the top returning targets in the ACC. Gadsden posted one of the most prolific seasons by a sophomore pass catcher in program history last year. In addition to leading all tight ends nationally in receiving yards, he set SU records for most receptions by a sophomore, most receptions by a tight end and most receiving yards by a tight end.
In addition to Gadsden, Garrett Shrader is on four preseason watch lists, including the Maxwell Award, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award and Wuerffel Trophy watch lists, LeQuint Allen is on the Doak Walker Award watch list, Trebor Pena is on the Hornung Awrad watch list and Josh Ilaoa is on the Polynesian Player of the Year watch list, headlining a strong offensive list of preseason accolades. Additionally, Marlowe Wax leads the defensive unit with selections to the Bednarik Award, Butkus Award and Lombardi Award Watch Lists. Shrader, Wax, Isaiah Johnson and Chris Bleich are also on the Senior Bowl Watch List, which was announced on Thursday.
The Orange open the 2023 season on Sept. 2 vs. Colgate. Season tickets, partial plans and individual game tickets are now on sale at Cuse.com/Tickets. Season tickets, which start at just $99, remain the best value for Orange fans. Fans can also purchase group tickets, hospitality packages and tailgate packages. With two of the last three games in the JMA Dome having been sold out, fans are encouraged to secure their seats today to be part of the action.
