Sophomore Ashley Rauch scored her first goal of the season and junior Kendyl Lauher scored her first collegiate goal to help Syracuse (2-2-0) defeat Binghamton (0-3-1), 2-1, at the SU Soccer Stadium on Sunday.
The Orange earned the win on an evening the program celebrated Senior Night by recognizing six players during a pre-game ceremony.
LAUHER'S GAME WINNER
Lauher's teamed up with sophomore Anna Rupert for the game-deciding goal. Lauher fed Rupert, who carried before returning it to Lauher. She drove the net and let fly a shot attempt that eluded the Binghamton defenders. The tally ended 46 minutes of scoreless play from the two rivals and gave Syracuse a 2-1 advantage.
ORANGE OPEN SCORING ON RAUCH'S GOAL
Sophomore Erin Flurey dribbled through traffic before threading a pass to Rauch, who finished off the play with her first goal of the campaign. The marker, just 7:08 into the contest, gave Syracuse an early boost.
BEARCATS CLAW BACK
Binghamton retaliated quickly after the opening goal. Freshman Paige Luke scored her squad's first tally of the season and graduate student Olivia McKnight earned the assist at the 16:01 mark of the first half.
SYRACUSE SENIORS
The Orange honored the following six seniors: Aysia Cobb, Raia James, Kate Murphy, Hannah Pilley, Mags Thornton and Zoe Van de Cloot. Each played a significant role in the team's triumph.
