
Volleyball Stays on the Road for Matchup at Colgate

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University volleyball team will be traveling to Hamilton, N.Y. for a road matchup against Colgate (5-4) on Tuesday, September 12 at 7 p.m. Fans can follow along through live stats available and can stream the match live on ESPN+.

'Cuse (1-6) has long history with Colgate, dating back to the 1973 season, where the Orange took the match 2-0. 'Cuse holds a 48-12-2 record against Colgate all-time. This will be the first meeting since Colgate won 3-0 on Aug. 26, 2017. The last matchup won by the Orange was on Sept. 25, 2012, where 'Cuse bested Colgate in four sets.

Colgate found success in the Ellis Rowland Memorial tournament this past weekend, winning all three contests. They achieved their first Big 12 win in program history, defeating West Virginia on Sept. 7 in five sets. The Raiders were picked first in the Patriot League preseason rankings for the third consecutive year, with 126 points and 14 first-place votes. Colgate finished 24-6 in 2022, becoming back-to-back Patriot League champions.

In Wednesday's win vs. Cornell, freshman Zharia Harris-Waddy led the team serving a career-high six aces. She had three service aces in the first set, followed by one in the second set and two in the fourth set. She finished the match with eight kills on 13 attacks. Her nine service aces this season puts her second on the team behind graduate Alyssa Bert (10). Cherlin Antonio paced the Orange offense with 18 kills in the four set match.

'Cuse will play at home for the first time this season to kick off the Syracuse/Cornell Invitational with a matchup against Iowa on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
