Perfect Non-Conference Slate Sets Up Big ACC Opener

Twenty-six unanswered points by the Syracuse football team put the Orange in position to do something for the first time since first joining a conference before the 1991 season.
The Orange football team have never swept their non-conference slate with four victories since the team joined the BIG EAST in 1991. 'Cuse's 29-16 win over Army sealed that fate, as the team prepares to ride into ACC play having handled business through the non-conference portion of its schedule.
There have been plenty of times the team has been close – most notably a 3-0-1 mark in the 1993 season due to a tie at Texas – and a number of winning records out of conference. In fact, under Head Coach Dino Babers, 'Cuse has not had a losing year in out of conference play, but wins over Colgate, Western Michigan, at Purdue and Army have put the Orange into uncharted waters.
The team has won 10-straight games in the month of September, dating back to the 2021 season. But it's biggest test of the stretch comes next, when Clemson comes to town for a Saturday afternoon contest as the ACC opener.
The Clemson game will mark the final home game until Nov. 3, meaning fans need to come out on Saturday for their last chance to catch the unbeaten Orange in over a month. Fans are encouraged to wear orange, as the contest has been dubbed an Orange Out. Get your tickets now at Cuse.com/Tickets.
Both the Orange and Tigers are receiving votes in this week's polls.
