PHILADELPHIA - The Syracuse University women's tennis team wrapped up day three of the Cissie Leary Tennis Invitational, finishing with a clean record on the final day at Hecht Tennis Center and Hamlin Tennis Courts.
"We are very proud of our team's effort, resilience, and attitude throughout the three days of competition," said head coach Younes Limam. "We will get some rest, then get back to working on specific teams for our next competition!"
In doubles action at the University of Pennsylvania-hosted event, Viktoriya Kanapatskaya and Shiori Ito swept their opponents from University of South Florida with a 6-0 final score. Ines Fonte and Miyuka Kimoto won their doubles match 6-2 while Anastasia Sysoeva and Polina Kozyreva won 6-4.Â
On the singles side, also against USF, Kimoto had a tight win, going 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). Kanapatskaya picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win while Sysoeva dropped just one game for a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Ito knocked off her opponent 6-2, 6-2 while Fonte won 6-1, 6-3. Kosyreva fell in just two sets for a 6-1, 6-1 decision to round out singles.
All told on the weekend, Syracuse collected 27 total wins and just three losses, including 11 doubles wins and 16 singles victories.
A select group heads to Cary, North Carolina next week for the ITA Women's All-American event, which runs from Sept. 30-Oct. 8. Stay tuned to Cuse.com for more information.
