Syracuse (11-4, 2-2 ACC) travels to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face #7 North Carolina (12-3, 4-0 ACC) in the Dean Smith Center on Saturday, January 13 at 12 p.m.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange have won six of their last seven games. Syracuse is 19^th in Division I and leads the ACC in steals per game with 9.7.

The Tar Heels are on a five-game winning streak, most recently defeating NC State, 67-54. North Carolina's leading scorer, senior RJ Davis, produced double-figures in all five games during the streak.

THE SYRACUSE-NORTH CAROLINA SERIES
North Carolina leads the series with Syracuse, 16-6. The Tar Heels have taken the last two meetings, most recently edging the Orange on Jan. 24, 2023, 72-68. Syracuse last took down North Carolina on Mar. 1, 2021, when the Orange won 72-70.

LAST TIME OUT
Syracuse hosted ACC foe Boston College and outlasted a comeback effort for a victory, 69-59. Sophomores forward Chris Bell (20 points) and center Maliq Brown (19 points) combined for 49 points. Brown recorded fours steals, blocks and assists to go with eight rebounds. The Orange swiped a season-high 17 steals in the contest and forced 22 turnovers.

ORANGE LEADERS
Sophomore guard Judah Mintz stands at third place in the ACC in scoring average (18.5 ppg.). He leads the conference in steals per game with 2.33. Mintz is also among the top ten of Division I in free throws (ninth, 101) and free throw attempts (10th, 128). Brown is first on the squad in rebounds per game, averaging 5.9.

Sophomores J.J. Starling (11.0 ppg.), a guard, forward Chris Bell (10.9) and center Maliq Brown (10.3) round out the Orange players averaging double-digit scoring this season.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Davis is atop the ACC in scoring average (20.3),. He has made 2.9 3-pointers per game this season and shoots .951 percent from the foul line. Graduate center Armando Bacot averages a double-double, scoring 14.5 and grabbing 10.7 rebounds per game. Junior Harrison Ingram (12.8 ppg.) and graduate Cormac Ryan (10.8 ppg.) average double-figure scoring for the Tar Heels. Davis and freshman Elliot Cadeau have dished out 51 and 53 assists, respectively.

Mintz is one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award, which is annually presented to the top point guard in Division I men's basketball. Orange followers are encouraged to participate in three rounds of Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, on hoophallawards.com.

Mintz is also on the watch list for the Naismith Trophy and John R. Wooden Award. Each list in comprised of 50 student-athletes. The lists for each award will be narrowed throughout the year, and winners of the awards will be announced later in the season.
