SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange are looking for their second win against Pittsburgh this season. Syracuse opened the week ranking first in the ACC in steals (9.6) and blocks (5.1) per game.

The Panthers dropped their most recent matchup against #11 Duke, 75-53. The 53 points from Pitt were its lowest scoring effort of the season. Pitt's lone conference win came against Louisville on January 6, 83-70.

THE SYRACUSE-PITT SERIES
Syracuse meets its third most familiar foe and most frequent ACC opponent in Pitt for the 126th meeting. The Orange downed the Panthers less than one month ago in the JMA Wireless Dome, 81-73. Syracuse leads the all-time series, 75-50. The Panthers last defeated the Orange on Feb. 25, 2023, 99-82.

Sophomore guard Judah Mintz scored a team-leading 21 points at North Carolina. Sophomore center Maliq Brown made his second consecutive start in the absence of junior center Naheem McLeod, who was out due to a foot injury. Brown logged eight rebounds, six points, two steals and one block. Â

Mintz paces the Orange offense and is third place in the ACC in scoring average (18.6 ppg.). Mintz is also among the top ten of Division I in free throws (T-eighth, 108) and free throw attempts (10th, 137). He and Brown are tied for the conference lead in steals per game (2.19). Brown is the squad leader on the boards, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game.

Sophomores Chris Bell (10.9 ppg.), a forward, guard J.J. Starling (10.3) and center Brown (10.1) are the other Orange players with double-figure scoring averages this season.

Pitt's leading scorer, senior forward Blake Hinson, is fourth in the ACC in points per game with 18.4. He averages 3.4 makes per game from 3-point range this season. Freshman guard Carlton Carrington (14.3 ppg.) tops the team with 77 assists. Junior guard Ishmael Leggett (11.9 ppg.) is first on the team in rebound average (5.8 rpg.).
