Syracuse Opens Spring Season Saturday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis program kicks off their spring season with four consecutive home matches, beginning Saturday, Jan. 20 against Army at 11 a.m. at the Drumlins Tennis Club followed by a clash with Fordham on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m.Â

The Orange have matched up with Army 14 times in the Spring since the 2000 season, leading the series 12-2. Syracuse has taken the last five meetings with Army, most recently winning 6-1 on Jan. 15, 2022. 'Cuse faces Fordham for its second all-time meeting this weekend. The last time the two programs squared off was in March of 2000, where the Orange swept the Rams, 6-0.

Head coach Younes Limam's squad features five returners, including graduate student Polina Kozyreva, who is returning for her 5th year with the Orange. Seniors Ines Fonte and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya, and juniors Shiori Ito and Miyuka Kimoto are the other Syracuse returners. Sophomore Anastasia Sysoeva is a newcomer to the squad.

After this weekend, Syracuse will take on St. Bonaventure and Cornell on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, before heading to New York, N.Y. on Feb. 4 for its first road match against Columbia. The Orange are set to begin Atlantic Coast Conference play on Feb. 17 at home against Boston College. The matches on Saturday will have single court streams available on cuse.com. Sunday's match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
