Syracuse University has collected its second ACC Weekly Award in the name of Dyaisha Fair following a 2-0 week for the Orange. Fair, named the ACC Player of the Week, was electric in last Thursday's ACC win over #15 Florida State. She set a program record with nine three-pointers scoring 31 points in a come-from-behind win over the Seminoles.Â
Fair helped SU erase an 18-point deficit, the second in as many games, to storm back and upset the Noles for the second top-15 win of the season at home for the Orange. Fair averaged 26.5 points per game against FSU and Pittsburgh. She was 9-for-14 (64.3%) from three-point range against FSU and followed up with six threes against Pitt. Her 31 points against FSU propelled her to 1,000 points at Syracuse, becoming the fastest player in program history to score 1,000 points. She did so in 50 games, 10 games faster than Tiana Mangakahia had done it. Against the Panthers, Fair scored a team-best 22 points made made four of six three-point attempts in the second quarter.
Fair moved into 10th, tied with Iowa State alum Ashley Joens, on the NCAA Division I women's basketball career scoring list with 3,060 points on Sunday.Â
The 5-foot-5 guard from Rochester, NY, is putting together one of the best seasons in SU history. She's leading the 16-2 Orange to their best start in over a decade and has 'Cuse 6-1 for the first time in ACC history. The Orange currently sit atop the ACC Standings, tied with North Carolina, and entered the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 Poll this week at No. 22.Â
This is the first ACC Player of the Week honor for the Orange this season. Alyssa Latham was previously named ACC Freshman of the Week on Dec. 4.Â
