Following a 1-1 week, which included the first ranked road win under head coach Felisha Legette-Jack, the Syracuse women's basketball team moved up to No. 21 in the latest Associated Press (AP) Top-25 Poll. It is the second consecutive week SU was ranked by the AP; the Orange checked in at #22 last week.
Â
Syracuse started the week in South Bend, Ind., picking up a road win against No. 15 Notre Dame, 79-65. The 14-point win completed the first season sweep of the Fighting Irish and the Orange's first road win against Notre Dame in program history. Dyaisha Fair led the way with 25 points, in tandem with Alaina Rice (19), Georgia Woolley (12) who also scored in double figures. Kyra Wood was a juggernaut down low for the Orange with 13 rebounds and a career-high six blocks.
Â
On Sunday afternoon, 'Cuse lost at the JMA Wireless Dome for the first time in a calendar year. It was the first home loss of the season when #19 Virginia Tech earned a 75-62 win in front of the second-largest crowd the Orange have had this season. Dyaisha Fair move to ninth all-time on the NCAA Division I Career Scoring List.
Â
The Orange enter a two-game road trip 17-3 overall and 7-2 in the ACC. Syracuse first embarks on a trip to No. 16 Louisville, on Thursday, Feb. 1. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX) online at 7 p.m. Following the game at Louisville the Orange will head straight to Boston for a 12 p.m. road game at Boston College on Sunday, Feb. 4 (ACCNX).
Â
The Orange return home on Feb. 8 for their Pink Out/Play4Kay game, raising awareness for breast cancer research and supporting those directly effected by the disease. Syracuse will take on Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
