EAGLES SURGE LATE IN FIRST HALF
Although the Orange forced 11 turnovers and allowed just 24 shot attempts from the Eagles in the first 20 minutes, Boston College was efficient with their chances, making 14-of-24 (.580) in the half and nine-of-10 (.900) in the last 8:35 prior to the intermission.
Â
After going just one-of-seven from the field in the first five minutes of action, the Orange made the next seven-of-12 shot attempts, capped off by a Mintz dunk. The flip in offensive efficiency allowed Syracuse to produce an 18-4 rally that put the visitors ahead, 20-11, with 8:50 left in the first half. Mintz and Starling contributed six and five points, respectively, during the stretch. The Eagles cut the deficit to two points with a 10-3 run, five of which came from Caudell Harris Jr., leaving 5:39 on the clock before halftime.
Â
The squads traded baskets, then Boston College held Syracuse without any points on six attempts in the ending 4:24 of the half. The hosts scored 14 unanswered points in the last four minutes before the intermission and the squads went into the locker rooms with an Eagles advantage, 37-30. Boston College opened the second half with seven straight points to push its lead to 44-30 with 18:18 remaining.
