#17 Irish Defeat Orange, 3-0

#17 Notre Dame's (8-1-2, 2-0-2) Lily Joseph converted two goals in a two-minute span of the first half and the Irish went on to defeat Syracuse (6-7-1, 0-6-0), 3-0, at the SU Soccer Stadium on Saturday.
The Orange have fallen to four straight top-20 opponents. Syracuse lost at #2 Florida State, and at home to #8 North Carolina, #5 Wake Forest, and now #17 Notre Dame.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Notre Dame dominated possession from the start. The Irish capitalized in the 28th minute, with Joseph getting her first of two, with an assist from Ellie Ospeck. Not two minutes later, Joseph completed her first-half brace, after the set up by Leah Klenke and Grace Restovich.
BUSY AT THE BACK
Syracuse goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch and the Orange back line were tested throughout the contest. Notre Dame posted 38 total shots, with 15 of them on target, both marking season-highs for SU opponents on the year. Vanderbosch made numerous acrobatic saves that kept Syracuse within striking distance.Â
