
McLeod Named AHA Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After the first weekend of play for the Syracuse University women's ice hockey team, freshman forward Rylee McLeod was selected as the AHA Rookie of the Week. Atlantic Hockey American (AHA) announced its weekly honors Monday afternoon.
McLeod finished her first collegiate weekend with two points, getting her first career goal on Saturday against Stonehill in a 4-0 win. The Grand Prairie, Albert native got her first goal 3:44 into the third period, while her first career point came on an assist in the second period to Charli Kettyle.
McLeod finished the weekend with a +3 as she was on ice for three of the four Syracuse goals on Saturday. She added 14 faceoff wins to her line, including a 10-of-15 effort on Friday in the season opener. McLeod went 56.0 percent in the circle over the weekend.
Penn State's Tessa Janecke was selected as the AHA Forward of the Week while Robert Morris had the Defenseman of the Week in Thalia D'Elia and the Goalkeeper of the Week in Maggie Hatch.
The Orange (2-0-0) are on short rest this week as they head north on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game at No. 8 St. Lawrence. Syracuse returns home to Tennity Ice Pavilion on Friday night for a 6 p.m. game against RPI before heading to Troy New York on Saturday to finish the RPI series at 4 p.m.
