Syracuse takes on Boston College in a Northeast showdown on Saturday in Chestnut Hill. It marks the 58th meeting between the longtime rivals in a series that dates back to the 1924 season.
Â
The Eagles rank as the fifth-most frequent opponent in program history. It marks the second time in three weeks that Syracuse will play one of its most common foes as it faced Pittsburgh for the 80th time on Oct. 24. The squads met every year from 1969-2004. Fourteen of those contests (1991-2004) were played while both schools were members of The BIG EAST Conference. Syracuse has won six of the 11 games played since the Orange joined the ACC in 2013.
Â
"I'm very thankful for this week, the opportunity we got to go against Boston College," head coach Fran Brown said at his weekly press conference. "They have a really good coach, Bill O'Brien, one of the better coaches in the country. He's coached at every level. His resume speaks for itself. When you look at Thomas Castellanos, think their quarterback is extremely dynamic so we have our hands full going against a guy like him."
Â
Three of the past four games between the squads have been decided by nine points or less. In 2020, Boston College held on for a 16-13 victory. In the Orange's last visit to Alumni Stadium, 'Cuse scored 26 unanswered points to erase a 13-point deficit in a 32-23 victory in 2022. Last season, Boston College scored a touchdown with 2:23 remaining to record a 17-10 win in the JMA Dome.
Â
Syracuse is coming off a come-from-behind 38-31 overtime victory against Virginia Tech. The Orange overcame an 18-point deficit for their largest comeback cine the 2012 campaign. The victory improved Syracuse's record to 6-2 overall, 3-2 in ACC play.
Â
Boston College is coming off a bye week after a 31-27 setback to Louisville, which was its third-straight loss. The Eagles are 4-4 overall and 1-3 in conference action.
Â
Syracuse will be making just its second trip to Alumni Stadium since the 2019 season. The Orange lead the all-time series with the Eagles, 34-23.
Kickoff will be at 12 p.m. on The CW. It'll be the first of a two-game road swing for the Orange, before the team returns to the Dome for the final two games of the regular season. Tickets are available at Cuse.com/Tickets. 'Cuse is also going bowling for the third-straight season.
