Orange Fall Short at Boston College

After trailing 14-0 midway through the second quarter, the Orange (6-3, 3-3 ACC) rallied with 21 unanswered points to take a 21-14 lead early in the second half. However, the Eagles (5-4, 2-3 ACC) quickly tied the game and regained the lead with a safety, maintaining their advantage for the rest of the contest.
Kyle McCord recorded his eighth 300-yard performance of the season as the quarterback completed 31 of his 48 passing attempts for 392 yards and two touchdowns in the game.
LeQuint Allen Jr. had his second-consecutive multi-touchdown outing with two. The running back also accounted for 107 total yards, 57 receiving and 50 rushing.
Jackson Meeks led the Orange with his third 100-yard receiving game of the season, totaling 105 yards on seven catches. Oronde Gadsden II also surpassed the 100-yard mark, finishing with 102 yards and catching his fourth touchdown of the season. Darrell Gill Jr. added a receiving touchdown, his second of the year, while also accounting for 50 yards in the air.
Boston College struck first, capitalizing on a Syracuse fumble with a 34-yard rushing touchdown at the 2:43 mark of the first quarter. The Eagles then doubled their lead to 14-0 midway through the second quarter with a six-play, 53-yard drive that resulted in a nine-yard passing touchdown.
With 6:32 left in the half, the Orange got on the board as McCord led an 88-yard drive, connecting with Gadsden for a 17-yard one-handed touchdown reception to cut the deficit to 14-7.

'Cuse quickly got the ball back after forcing an Eagles three-and-out and equalized the game at 14-14 with a six-play, 67-yard possession that ended with a three-yard rushing touchdown from Allen, making it an even ballgame heading into the locker room.
Syracuse took its first lead of the afternoon early in the second half as Allen scored his second rushing touchdown to put the Orange up 21-14. Boston College quickly answered with a 3-play, 75-yard drive to tie the game at 21. The Eagles then reclaimed the lead with a safety on the first play of the ensuing 'Cuse drive, making it 23-21. Following the safety, Boston College extended its advantage to 30-21 with a 12-play, 67-yard drive that resulted in their fourth touchdown of the game.
McCord followed Boston College's touchdown with his second passing score of the game, finding Gill for a 12-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 30-28. However, the Eagles quickly extended their lead to 37-28 on the next drive, converting a fourth-and-one with an 18-yard touchdown pass to the end zone.
The Orange put together a strong drive at the end of the fourth quarter, going 73 yards in nine plays to set up a field goal, cutting the deficit to 37-31 with 1:16 remaining. Syracuse then attempted an onside kick and initially recovered it, but a penalty forced a re-kick, which was secured by the Eagles.
Boston College went on to hold off 'Cuse, claiming a 37-31 victory.
The Orange will head to the west coast for their second-consecutive road game, taking on California on Saturday, Nov. 16. The game is set for 3 p.m. EST (12 p.m. PST) on The CW.
