Star Syracuse tight end Oronde Gadsden has been named an Associated Press All-American.
He was tabbed to the third team by the Associated Press. It's the second All-America team nod for Gadsden this season, who was already named a Sports Illustrated Second Team All-American. A two-time First Team All-ACC selection, Gadsden broke his own program record for receptions by a tight end this season (69), bettering his 2022 mark of 61 catches.
He needs 109 yards in the bowl game to tie his program record for receiving yards by a tight end (969). Gadsden ranks fourth nationally in receptions by a tight end this season. He currently has the eighth-most receptions in a single season in program history, three behind Alec Lemon (72, 2012) for the No. 7 spot. Two of his current teammates, Jackson Meeks (79) and Trebor Pena (73), occupy the fifth and sixth spots, respectively, as the group has helped Kyle McCord command the nation's most prolific passing offense this season.
In addition to having the most career receptions and receiving yards by a tight end in program history, Gadsden ranks fifth in school history in catches (139) and 10th in yards (1,920).
He and the Orange will compete in the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl on Dec. 27 in San Diego vs. Washington State. Tickets and information on the bowl can be found at Cuse.com/Bowl.
