The Syracuse defense gave back to the Syracuse community with every sack this season, thanks to the Wegmans Sack Hunger campaign. Wegmans teamed with the Syracuse Athletics to donate to the United Way for every sack in 2024.
Syracuse sacked opposing quarterbacks 26 times for 156 sack yards during the 2024 regular season. Fadil Diggs (7.5) leads the Orange in sacks thus far, followed by Marlowe Wax (4.5).
Â
With that number, Wegmans donated $5,000 to the United Way of Central New York in a presentation last Saturday at the DeWitt Wegmans on E. Genesee St. in Fayetteville.
"Wegmans was proud to partner with Syracuse University Football again to raise money for the United Way of Central New York through the Sack Hunger initiative," Wegmans Director of Community Relations Evelyn Ingram said. "This partnership allows us to increase our support for people in our community when they need it most."
This was the fourth year of the promotion, which has now raised $20,000 for the United Way of Central New York from Wegmans thanks to Syracuse's sacks.
Syracuse Athletics is grateful to Wegmans for their continued support of Orange student-athletes and the United Way.
