2/28/2024 2:55:00 PM | Track and Field
The fourth-place finisher from a year ago, Jaheem Hayles will return to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 60-meter hurdles after officially making the qualifying field.
Hayles posted a season-best time of 7.65 seconds at the ACC Championships to win his first conference meet on Saturday, putting him within a tenth of a second of the current national leader and squarely in the NCAA Championship field.
Hayles has now qualified for four-straight NCAA Championships, dating back to the 2022 outdoor season. He was the bronze medalist at last year's outdoor championships in the 110-meter hurdles with a PR time of 13.28 seconds. He took fourth in the 2023 indoor season in 7.91 seconds, and finished ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in 2022, his first NCAA Championships appearance.
Syracuse has qualified a hurdler at least one NCAA Championship event in 10 of the last 13 seasons that both NCAA Championships were held.
