Syracuse Welcomes No. 8 NC State And Wake Forest

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team (8-4, 2-3 ACC) will welcome two ACC opponents to Drumlin's Country Club this weekend. The Orange will face No. 8 NC State (13-3, 3-0) on Friday, March 15 at 3 p.m. before taking on Wake Forest (10-6, 2-1) on Sunday, March 17 at 11 a.m.

Friday's match will mark the 11th all-time meeting between 'Cuse and NC State. The Wolfpack own a 7-3 advantage in the series and have taken the last four outings. The Orange last took down NC State, 4-3, on April 22, 2018. Syracuse and Wake Forest will meet for the 17th time on Sunday. The last seven affairs have gone to the Demon Deacons, and they have a 12-4 lead in the all-time series. The Orange last beat Wake Forest on April 21, 2017, outlasting the Demon Deacons, 4-3.

The Wolfpack are on a five-match winning streak, most recently defeating Wake Forest 6-1 on March 8. Amelia Rajecki leads the way in the singles event with a 13-1 record in the number one spot. The Demon Deacons have won five of their last six matches, with their sole loss coming against NC State. Casie Wooten has played in the number one spot for singles all season and boasts a 9-3 record.

The Orange competed in their final nonconference match of the season when they defeated Buffalo, 6-1, on March 7. After Syracuse took the doubles point, Miyuka Kimoto got her fourth win of the season in the number one spot against Azra Deniz Comlek, 6-2, 6-2.

After this weekend, the Orange will travel for an extended road stand. 'Cuse will first visit Virginia for matchups against No. 5 UVA on Friday, March 22 at 4 p.m. and Virginia Tech on Sunday, March 24 at 11:30 a.m. The Orange then will go further south for contests against Florida State and Miami.
