
’Cuse Remains Top Five in Both Polls

No. 4 Orange head to Ithaca Tuesday Night
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University men's lacrosse remained in the top five of both major polls this week, checking in at number four in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, dropping one spot from last week.
The Orange (9-3) fell short in a late rally, 14-12 at No. 1 Notre Dame last week, but has a chance to rebound on Tuesday against another top-15 team. Syracuse makes the short journey to Ithaca, New York to face No. 12/No. 13 Cornell at Schoellkopf Field for a 7 p.m. showdown.
Syracuse picked up 412 points in the USILA Coaches Poll this week as the ACC occupied the top four spots in the poll this week. Notre Dame held its number one ranking with 498 points and 24 of the 25 first-place votes, with Virginia snagging the last first-place vote alongside 473 points. Duke was third with 426 points while Army West Point rounded out the top five with 406 points.
Opponents named in the poll this week include: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 2 Virginia, No. 3 Duke, No. 5 Army West Point, No. 9 Maryland, No. 10 Johns Hopkins, No. 12 Cornell, with Colgate, Delaware, and North Carolina all receiving votes.
Likewise, Syracuse was fourth in the media poll this week with 397 points. It was another ACC sweep in the top three spots with Notre Dame at one with 478 points and 22 of the 24 top selections, with Virginia in second with 458 points and the outstanding top votes, while Duke was third with 403 points. Army West Point also snared the fifth spot with 381 points.
Additional 2024 foes in the Media Poll this week include: No. 6 Maryland, No. 7 Johns Hopkins, No. 13 Cornell, with Delaware, Colgate, and North Carolina receiving votes as well.
