
5 Named to Hampshire Honor Society

Five former 'Cuse football players were honored one more time in Orange by the National Football Foundation.

Garrett Shrader, Isaiah Johnson, Chris Bleich, Ryan Dolan and Mike Midkiff were all named to the Hampshire Honor Society, which honors players who have graduated and completed their playing eligibility and obtained a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA, as well as an on-field contributor in their playing career.
Shrader, a two-time team captain, ended his career as one-of-three active FBS quarterbacks with over 7,000 passing and 2,000 rushing yards, including his time at Mississippi State. His 1,703 rushing yards at Syracuse in three seasons concludes his career 16th on the ACC's all-time record list for a quarterback and 31 rushing touchdowns ranks seventh in league history among quarterbacks. Shrader is also near the top of a number of Orange record categories. He's fourth in rushing touchdowns (31), third in rushing yards by a quarterback (1,703), fifth in completions (462), sixth in passing yards (5,771), third in completion percentage (60.4), fourth in passing efficiency (136.1), sixth in passing yards per game (164.9) and sixth in touchdown passes (39).
Johnson, another team captain this season, was a two-year starter at cornerback for the Orange after graduating from Dartmouth. In his collegiate career, Johnson had 188 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 14 pass breakups and an three interceptions in his collegiate career. After his final season, Johnson went on to be an NFL Draft Combine and East-West Shrine Game invitee.
Bleich was an Honorable Mention All-ACC selection this past season. A transfer from Florida, Bleich played in 33 games at 'Cuse with 32 starts. He paved the way for three 1,000-yard rushing seasons at Syracuse, with Sean Tucker accomplishing the feat in 2021 and 2022, and LeQuint Allen crossed the threshold this past season.
Dolan was a key special teams player for each of the past two seasons at SU. He appeared in 24 games and made six tackles in kickoff and punt coverage. He appeared in every game of the 2023 season and saw action in 11 games in 2022, as part of Syracuse's Pinstripe and Boca Raton Bowl teams.
Midkiff, a long snapper and holder, appeared in every game this past season and 27 in total in his time in Orange. He spent this past season as the long snapper for the PAT/Field Goal unit, helping the group of 36-of-37 on PATs.
