Men's Rowing Climbs to #7 in IRCA/IRA Poll

After going 2-1 in head-to-head races in Redwood Shores, Calif., to open the spring racing season, Syracuse's varsity eight moved up two spots to No. 7 in the latest IRCA/IRA Men's Heavyweight Varsity 8 Poll.

The Orange debut at No. 9 to start the season but earned wins over No. 8 Stanford and No. 20 Oregon State at the Pac-12 Invite to begin the spring season. Syracuse's only loss of the weekend was to defending national champion No. 1 Cal, who checks in at No. 2 in this week's poll, by 2.9 seconds.

SU racked up 228 points in this week's poll, trailing Harvard University (292), University of California (286), University of Washington (283), Princeton University (263), Yale University (253), and Brown University (237). Syracuse's next opponents, Cornell University (142) and the US Naval Academy (170), ranked 14^th and 12^th respectively.

The Orange return to action for The Goes Trophy race on April 20 vs. No. 14 Cornell and No. 12 Navy at Ten Eyck Boathouse at Long Branch Park on the shore of Onondaga Lake.
