
'Cuse Student-Athletes Celebrate Graduation

Syracuse Athletics celebrated the graduation of 105 Orange student-athletes at the 170th Syracuse University commencement ceremony on Sunday in the JMA Wireless Dome. Orange student-athletes earned undergraduate and master's degrees and Certificates of Advanced Study from nine of Syracuse's schools and colleges. Twenty-one student-athletes earned master's degrees in 14 different programs, while 84 student-athletes earned undergraduate degrees in 37 different academic programs. More than half of the 105 graduates, 61 total, achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

For the third year in a row Syracuse University Athletics ranks in the top five among Power 5 schools Graduation Success Rate (GSR). Syracuse's 93% GSR is tied for the fifth highest score among Power 5 school, and the Orange are one of 22 Power 5 schools nationally to score 94% or higher. Syracuse's GSR – 94% -- ties for the second-best score in program history, trailing only 95% in 2021. It ties the mark set in 2020. GSR measurement reflects Orange student-athletes who enrolled in 2016-17 and earned their degrees within six years.

Soccer student-athlete Julius Rauch is among the 12 seniors named as the 2024 Syracuse University Scholars, the highest undergraduate honor the University bestows. Since 1983, 18 student-athletes earned the distinction as University Scholars. Rauch joins Hendrik Hilpert (2019) as members of the men's soccer team to earn the prestigious award. Rauch earned his degree in finance and entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
