Orange Move on to Finals at IRA Championship

The Orange Varsity Eight earned a spot in the Grand Final (11 a.m.) at the IRA National Championship with a third-place finish in Semifinal 2 on Saturday behind California (5:31.254) and Harvard (5:33.634). The Orange crossed the 2,000-meter finish in 5:34.341 the third and final spot in the Grand Final. The Orange beat out Penn (5:36.587), Northeastern (5:36.801), and Stanford (5:44.054) who all head to the Petite Final.

The 2V8 finished fifth in Semifinal 2 with a time of 5:50.293 and will race in the Petite Final on Sunday. Princeton won the race in 5:39.979 while Brown (5:42.239) and Harvard (5:42.976) earned the final two spots in the Grand Final. The Orange will be joined by Northeastern (5:49.756) and Cornell (5:59.849) in Sunday's Petite Final at 10 a.m.Â
In the 3V8 Semifinal, SU finished fifth with a time of 5:48.151. Washington (5:40.471) won the race while Brown (5:43.248), and Dartmouth (5:44.991) secured the final two spots in the Grand Final. Yale (5:47.221) and Cornell (6:00.835) will race with Syracuse in Sunday's Petite Final at 9:30 a.m.
The Varsity Four finished sixth in the Petite Final in the late morning, to finish 12th overall at the IRA Championship. Syracuse crossed the line 6:36.791, while Princeton won the Petite Final in 6:28.841 and Columbia (06:30.094), Harvard (06:32.451), San Diego (06:33.524), and Holy Cross (06:34.364) rounded out the field.Â
