Batherson Selected in 2024 PWHL Draft

Former Orange standout Mae Batherson '23 became the third Syracuse graduate to be selected in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) Draft on Tuesday night. The 2023 Syracuse graduate was chosen by PWHL Minnesota in the sixth round of the annual draft.

Batherson, a 2023 All-College Hockey America First Team selection, is tied for fifth in Syracuse history on the career points by a defenseman record list with 61 (Akane Hosoyamada, 2010-15). The New Minas, Nova Scotia native has 15 career goals and 46 career assists, which ranks fifth and sixth, respectively, on the Orange career record lists for defenseman. She earned 2019-20 CHA All-Rookie honors. In her final season in Orange, Batherson tallied 21 points, including 16 assists, which is second on the team and 10th in the CHA, and recorded 36 blocked shots.
