Syracuse will head south to the Lone Star State to face Texas A&M for the 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge, announced Wednesday afternoon. The Wednesday, Dec. 4 meeting in College Station, Texas, will be the third in program history between the two teams and first since 2018.
The 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge is set for Dec. 4 and 5 and will air on the ESPN family of networks including ESPN, ESPN2, ACC Network and SEC Network. All game times and television networks will be announced at a later date.Â
In the inaugural challenge, the Orange defeated Alabama, 79-73, on Nov. 30, 2023 at the JMA Wireless Dome. The 2023 ACC/SEC Challenge saw the two leagues split 7-7 on both the men's and women's side in 14 games each.
Syracuse went 24-8 overall last year and tied for the second-best record in the ACC with a 13-5 mark. The Orange tied program bests in regular season wins (23), conference wins (13) and ACC road wins (6) in just head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's second season. Syracuse reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season and peaked as high as No. 17 in the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 Poll.Â
Texas A&M went 19-13 overall during the 2023-24 season and reached the NCAA Tournament in Joni Taylor's second season with the Aggies. TAMU lost a heart breaker, 61-59, at Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament to end their season on March 23.Â
Syracuse holds a 2-1 advantage over the Aggies in the all-time series. The first time the two met was in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. on Nov. 30 when SU won, 78-63. The Aggies got their wen on Dec. 21, 2016 in Winter Park, Fla., and the Orange took the most recent win in the series in White Plains, N.Y., on Nov. 14, 2018. This marks the first time the two will play each other with a true home and away team.Â
