The Syracuse football team opens a new era on Saturday in the JMA Wireless Dome, here's five things you need to know about the matchup:
1. Fran Brown Era Begins
Head Coach Fran Brown was hired to become the 31st coach in Syracuse football history this off-season. Known as the nation's top recruiter, he immediately infused talent into the Orange's roster and retained its most important returning pieces.
He added key players such as quarterback Kyle McCord, who arrived via Ohio State, is coming off an 11-1 season last year as a starter and enters 2024 fourth among active FBS quarterbacks in completion percentage and Fadil Diggs, a transfer from Texas A&M, who was a team captain for the Aggies.
The Orange also retained all-conference tight end Oronde Gadsden II, 1,000-yard rusher LeQuint Allen, leading tackler Marlowe Wax and standout safeties Justin Barron and Alijah Clark.
2. Season and Individual Game Tickets Available in a Renovated Dome
A new era of Orange football coincides with a new era of team's iconic stadium. The latest phase of the JMA Wireless Dome renovation project was completed this summer, installing chairback seating throughout the venue.
The new-look and feel is the latest addition to improve the gameday experience for fans. Over the last-five years, the Dome has seen upgrades including the addition of air conditioning, a new fixed roof and centerhung video board, new lighting and sound, upgraded concession stands, new branding throughout the building and new and upgraded premium spaces.

3. Opening Up
'Cuse is 87-43-4 all-time in season opening contests, including winning nine of its last 10. The Orange also boast a 94-34-4 record in home starters, a mark that excludes the 1979 and 1889 seasons when the team did not play any home games.
Syracuse began the 2021 season against Ohio, winning the game in Athens by a score of 29-9.
4. New Fan Experience Opportunities
Highlighted by the introduction of the NYE Auto Quad Walk, Syracuse Athletics has new fan opportunities planned this season. The quad walk, a tradition that Coach Fran wants to be part of the weekly game day experience, will begin two hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff. The team will be dropped off near Hendricks Chapel and walk through the quad in front of the chapel, with fans able to cheer on the team during their route to the stadium.

5. Home Streak to Start
Four of the Orange's seven home contests will come in the JMA Wireless Dome, all in a row to open the year, meaning 'Cuse fans should make sure to come out early this season, as the bulk of the October and November schedules will be on the road.
The four-straight home games to open the year ties the 2015 team for the longest stretch at home. The 1990 squad also went four games without a true road contest, but included a neutral site matchup in week one. The 1959 National Championship team (5) was the last time a team had a longer stretch without a true road game to open the year than the 1990, 2015 and 2024 squads have/will experience.
