
Syracuse Begins Fall Season At Penn Invitational

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team returns to play this weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Penn Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The tournament will be contested from Sept. 13-15 and will be Syracuse's first event of its fall season.
The Format
Play on Friday will begin at 9 a.m. with doubles before another set of doubles matches begins at approximately 10:15 a.m. The day will conclude with singles at 1:30 p.m.
The other teams competing in the event are Delaware, Missouri, Penn, Temple and Saint Joseph's.
Meet the Orange
Miyuka Kimoto returns for her senior year following notching 10 singles victories (six in ACC play) and 11 doubles wins last season. Kimoto is a strong starter, as she won three consecutive singles matches and five consecutive doubles matches to kick off play last spring. She earned the first ACC Player of the Week nod of her collegiate career last season on March 19.
Shiori Ito is back as a senior with the Orange after picking up four conference singles victories last spring. Ito's success on and off the court earned her CSC Academic All-District Team honors.
Anastasia Sysoeva is entering her junior year with the Orange. In her debut campaign with Syracuse last season, she finished with an overall singles record of 12-6 with seven wins coming in ACC play.
Constance Levivier returns to the court as a junior for her second season with the Orange. She started last season with two consecutive wins in both doubles and singles play.
Newcomers
Sophomore Nelly Knezkova joins 'Cuse in 2024-25 after a successful freshman season at Hawaii, where she racked up up 11 singles wins, five of which came at the No. 1 spot. She earned All-Big West second team honors in singles and was named Big West Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks (March 20 and 27).
The Orange have also added sophomore Serafima Shastova from Jacksonville State. Shastova had 12 singles victories in 16 matches played last spring for the Gamecocks, all of which came at the No. 1 spot. She earned First Team All-ASUN, ASUN Freshman of the Year and ASUN All-Freshman Team honors.
