The Orange celebrated Senior Day with a 3-0 triumph against St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Graduate student Kate Murphy, freshman Vita Naihin and redshirt junior Erin Flurey each scored for the Orange. Junior goalkeepers Shea Vanderbosch and Blythe Braun split the netminding duties and posted a shared shutout.
Junior forward Ava Uribe leads the Orange with eight points. Junior midfielder Ashley Rauch has a squad-best three goals. Vanderbosch has posted a 0.55 goals-against-average in six contests.
Heading Home
The trip to Dallas is a homecoming of sorts for Syracuse Coach Nicky Thrasher-Adams and Murphy. Thrasher-Adams was born in Texas, earned her undergraduate degree and played soccer at Texas A&M, and was the head coach at Rice before coming to Syracuse. Murphy is from Plano, Texas, and was a scholastic standout at Ursuline Academy of Dallas.
SMU Status
The Mustangs are 4-3-0 after a suffering a 2-1 loss to Baylor last Thursday. Junior forward Eliana Salama has four goals and two assists for SMU. Freshman forward Liz Eddy has seven points. Junior SSierra Cota-Yarde has started every match for the Mustangs and owns a 1.50 goals-against average.
