Syracuse Edged at Virginia Tech

Syracuse (6-3-1, 0-2-0) had a seven-to-four advantage in shots on goal but host Virginia Tech (7-2-1, 2-0-0) managed to find the back of the net in a 1-0 Hokie triumph in Blacksburg, Va., on Sunday.
URIBE TESTS TECH EARLY
Syracuse forward Ava Uribe put pressure on Virginia Tech early. She engineered an open look from the right side, 8:46 into the contest, but Lauren Hargrove made the save.
FLUREY'S BARRAGE
Erin Flurey, an Orange midfielder, put three shots on net in the first half. Hargrove stopped the Orange sharpshooter at 13:52, 31:17 and just seconds before the intermission.
HOKIES HIT THE MARK
Virginia Tech scored the afternoon's only goal with 4:07 left in the opening half. The play began with Hokie corner kick that Syracuse goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch knocked away. A scramble ensued and Allie George reached the rebound and drove it home. It was George's third goal of the season.
