#2 Seminoles Defeat Orange, 5-1

#2 Florida State (6-0-1, 1-0-0) had two-goal efforts from Kameron Simmonds and Taylor Huff, and the Seminoles defeated Syracuse (6-4-1, 0-3-0), 5-1, on Thursday night in Tallahasse, Fla.
The Seminoles earned a 29th consecutive victory, a streak that includes the 2023 NCAA Championship game.
SEMINOLES GAIN EARLY ADVANTAGE:
Florida State, playing in its ACC opener, jumped ahead quickly. Taylor Huff passed to Peyton McGovern, who slid the ball to a wide open Wrianna Hudson and Hudson put the Seminoles ahead just 6:15 minutes into the contest. Exactly eight minutes later, Simmonds extended the FSU advantage to 2-0, off an assist from Carissa Boeckmann.
FLORIDA STATE EXTENDS ITS MARGIN
The Seminoles started the second half in a similar manner as the opening of the contest. Just over seven minutes past the intermission, Simmonds found the net a second time, with an assist from Marianyela Jimenez. Eight minutes later, the defending NCAA champions struck again, this time on a goal by Taylor Huff that Simmonds earned an assist on.
RAUCH GETS THE ORANGE ON THE BOARD
Ashley Rauch provided the Orange with a net-finder late in the contest. The tally, her squad-leading fourth of the season, narrowed the Florida State margin to 4-1 at the 83:33 mark.
THE SEMINOLES CLOSE OUT THE CONTEST
Taylor Huff picked up her second goal of the game with 3:07 remaining to close out the contest. Ashlyn Puerta picked up an assist.Â
