Soccer Joins With Team Impact, Signs Lilianna Cavallo

Syracuse women's soccer coach Nicky Thrasher Adams has announced a new team member, signing seven-year-old Lilianna Cavallo through Team IMPACT.

Lilianna, who has cerebral palsy, was officially introduced at a signing day press conference on Saturday, September 21, in the Lally Athletics Complex on campus. She will participate in many activities with the team including games, practices, and other team events.

"Lilianna is an inspiration for us all," said Nicky Thrasher Adams. "She will always be a part of our Syracuse soccer family!"

"We are so happy that we are a part of Lilianna's life journey, and that she is a part of ours," said Syracuse senior Emma Klein.

Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.

"We are proud to work with Syracuse University, their athletic department, and coaching staff to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates."

Syracuse University has worked with Team IMPACT for the past 10 years, matching 13 children across its women's soccer, men's basketball, field hockey, football, women's ice hockey and women's lacrosse programs.
