After one of the best individual seasons in program history, Kyle McCord has declared for the NFL Draft.
McCord spent his senior season with the Orange after transferring from Ohio State and immediately made his mark as one of the best signal callers to ever play in the Dome. His 4,779 passing yards not only led the nation, but set a new Atlantic Coast Conference record, usurping a bevvy of first round picks, Heisman Trophy winners and NFL stars.
In addition to his passing yard record, McCord set new program records for touchdowns responsible for (37), total offense (4,714 yards), touchdown passes (34), completions (391), passing yards per game (367.6) and attempts (592).
Despite spending just one season with the Orange, he departs Syracuse as the career record holder for total offense per game (362.6), passing yards per game (367.6) and yards per play (7.15). He is seventh on the career touchdown passes list (34), second In passing efficiency (148.8), second in completion percentage (66.0-percent), eighth in passing yards (4,779) and seventh in completions (391).
McCord finished 10th in Heisman Trophy voting after leading the Orange to its third 10-win season since 2000. He's the first Syracuse player to finish in the top-10 of Heisman voting since Dwight Freeney in 2001.
He will next be one-of-five members of the Orange, joining LeQuint Allen Jr., Oronde Gadsden II, Alijah Clark and Fadil Diggs, to compete in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Dallas.
