Orange Open 2025 Slate in Aflac Kickoff Game vs. Tennessee

The Syracuse football team will open the 2025 season at the Aflac Kickoff Game vs. Tennessee in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
While the game had been previously announced, the Atlantic Coast Conference unveiled the game date being Saturday, Aug. 30, as part of its schedule reveal over the coming days. Today's announcement was all week 0-1 games for ACC squads. On Friday, the league will announce each school's first conference matchup on ACC Network beginning at 4 p.m. The full schedule will be released in a television special on ESPN2 and ACC Network, beginning at 9 p.m. on Monday.

The marquee week one matchup will provide an early-season test for head coach Fran Brown's squad in his second season with the program. Both teams finished the 2024 season ranked in the top-20 of the final AP Poll, with 'Cuse checking in at No. 20 and the Volunteers finishing the year No. 9. Each squad went 10-3 in 2024, with Tennessee reaching the College Football Playoff. Syracuse defeated Washington State in the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl to secure its double-digit win season.
This will be the first matchup for the programs since the 2001 season.
Kickoff time and broadcast network will be announced this summer.
