2025 Syracuse Football Schedule Released
1/27/2025 8:56:00 PM | Football
The Syracuse football team will face one of the nation's most difficult schedules in 2025, squaring off with four teams from the 2024 College Football Playoff, five teams that finished in the top-20 of the final AP Poll, all on the road, and face 11 bowl teams from this past season.
The Orange, which finished the season ranked 20th in the final AP Poll, are coming off just the program's third 10-win season since 2000. Head Coach Fran Brown's first season leading the program culminated in multiple national coach of the year awards after tying Paul Pasqualoni for the most victories by a first-year head coach in school history.
Now is the time to secure your seats for 2025 and be part of exciting times for the 'Cuse football program. Fans can renew their seats or become a new season ticket holder at Cuse.com/Tickets. The 2025 Dome slate features a pair of nine-win teams from this past season (Duke and UConn), longtime rivals Pitt and Boston College, a North Carolina squad coming off a bowl appearance that will now be led by legendary coach Bill Belichick and Central New York foe Colgate.
FULL 2025 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE:
Saturday, Aug. 30 – vs. Tennessee – Atlanta, Ga. (Aflac Kickoff Game)
Syracuse will face 2024 College Football Playoff participant Tennessee in one of the nation's premier Week 1 contests. The two teams will meet at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 30 to open the season.
Syracuse and Tennessee haven't faced each other in nearly 25 years, with the last meeting coming in Knoxville early in the 2001 season.
Tickets for the Aflac Kickoff Game can be purchased now through the Syracuse Box Office by clicking this link.
Saturday, Sept. 6 – UConn
The Orange will face the Huskies in the JMA Wireless Dome for the second-straight year, after claiming the most recent meeting 31-24. Wide receiver Darrell Gill Jr. had a career-high 185 yards through the air to lead the 'Cuse offensive attack in that contest.
Syracuse has won five-straight matchups against UConn, giving them a 7-6 advantage in the all-time series. A frequent opponent on the Orange schedule dating back to their time as BIG EAST rivals, this will be the 14th matchup in the last 21 years between the two schools.
Friday, Sept. 12 – Colgate
The closest NCAA Division I program to Syracuse, Colgate is back on the schedule for the 69th time in program history. The Raiders are the third-most frequent opponent all-time for Syracuse, trailing just Pittsburgh (80) and Penn State (71).
This will be the first of two Friday night games in the JMA Wireless Dome this season, something Syracuse has been successful in in recent years. The Orange have won 18 of their last-30 Friday games.
Saturday, Sept. 20 – at Clemson
The Orange return to Death Valley to open conference play on Sept. 20. After not facing the Tigers in 2024, the first time 'Cuse and Clemson have not played since the Orange joined the ACC, the defending ACC Champions are back on the slate this season.
Clemson won the league title game in 2024 to reach the College Football Playoff, setting up an early-season ACC test for the Orange.
Saturday, Sept. 27 – Duke
The first home game in ACC play will be Duke to close out the month of September. The Blue Devils are coming off a nine-win campaign and trip to the Gator Bowl in head coach Manny Diaz's first season in Durham.
Duke has not visited the Dome since the COVID impacted 2020 season, marking the first time since 2014 that Orange fans will see the Blue Devils.
Saturday, Oct. 4 – at SMU
The month of October will open with Syracuse's first trip to SMU, one of the newest ACC members. A College Football Playoff participant in 2024, the Mustangs are the last remaining ACC team that the Orange have yet to face in conference play.
The two schools do have one prior meeting, happening 94 years ago at Archbold Stadium. SMU took that contest 16-6.
Oct. 11 – BYE
The first of two open weeks in the 2025 calendar will come at the midway point of the regular season.
Saturday, Oct. 18 – Pittsburgh
Syracuse's oldest rival, 'Cuse and Pitt will meet for the 81st time on Oct. 18. The series goes back over 100 years and the two programs have met annually since 1955. It's a series that will continue to be an annual matchup on the schedule as well, with Pitt being designated as one of 'Cuse's two annual rivals in current ACC scheduling model.
The matchup also ends a two-year scheduling oddity and will be the first home game in the month of October since 2022.
Saturday, Oct. 25 – at Georgia Tech
Syracuse will head to Georgia Tech on Oct. 25 to face the Yellow Jackets for the third year in a row and fourth time in the last-six years. The two teams will meet for the seventh time (two neutral, two in Syracuse and two in Atlanta previously), with the Orange looking to end a streak of the home team winning each contest.
In last season's matchup, the Orange downed a ranked Georgia Tech squad to deliver the first of three ranked victories in 2024.
Friday, Oct. 31 – North Carolina
Halloween will have extra activity in Syracuse this year, with North Carolina set to visit the JMA Dome. The Tar Heels have not visited the Dome since 2018, a double-overtime thriller that 'Cuse came away victorious in.
The series will have a new look this season as Carolina hired six-time Super Bowl Champion head coach Bill Belichick to lead its squad in 2025.
Saturday Nov. 8 – at Miami
A rematch of one of the most exciting games of the 2024 season, Syracuse will head to Miami to open the month of November. The Orange posted their largest comeback in program history, erasing a 21-point deficit to defeat the then No. 6 Hurricanes at the Dome in the most recent matchup.
This year's contest will be the first trip to Miami Gardens since 2017, a close, one-possession loss to a top-10 ranked 'Canes squad.
Nov. 15 – BYE
The second and final open week of the 2025 season will come in week 12.
Saturday, Nov. 22 – at Notre Dame
The fourth College Football Playoff team on the 2025 schedule, Syracuse will play its final road game at Notre Dame Stadium on Nov. 22. The Orange will make their fifth trip in program history to face the Fighting Irish, having split the last two trips to South Bend.
Saturday, Nov. 29 – Boston College
Rivalry weekend in college football will bring Northeast rival Boston College back to the JMA Dome. The Eagles and Orange have been dead even in the series since reuniting as conference rivals in the ACC in 2013. Each team has won six of the 12 ACC contests against each other. The Orange hold the all-time series lead 34-24.
