
Orange Men Take 3rd at Wisconsin Invite

The Syracuse men's cross country team placed third – ahead of 15 ranked teams – at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday. The result headlined a busy day of racing as the team also competed at the Princeton Fall Classic.
Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational
The No. 11 Orange men placed third overall, in a field with nearly 20 ranked teams, at one of the nation's premier regular season meets. Syracuse was led by Sam Lawler in 12th place (23:34.5), while Assaf Harari also turned in a top-20 finish at 17th (23:37.5). Matthew Neill (23:51.6) placed 35th, followed by Peter Walsdorf (23:52.9) and Ben Gabelman (23:56.4) in 40th and 48th, respectively.
Benne Anderson (24:00.9) was right outside the 'Cuse scoring in 59th. Louis Small (24:31.7) and Connell Alford (24:39.9) also raced for the men.
No. 3 New Mexico (51 ponts) and No. 5 Colorado (150 points), were the only two teams to best the Orange's 152 points. Syracuse defeated four teams ranked inside the top-10 as part of their finish ahead of 15 ranked squads on Friday.
The women were led by Selma Anderson (20:38.3) in 52nd. Emma Eastman (20:58.4) was 78th, followed by Madeline Heintz (21:15.0) in 114th. Nyah Hernandez (21:44.7) and Jayden Harberts (20:50.4) were 160th and 167th, respectively, to round out the SU scoring.
Jayden Harberts (21:50.4), Carmen Luisi (22:25.3) and Olivia Shattuck (23:06.8) also raced.
The Orange women finished 23rd at the 30-team meet featuring some of the nation's top teams.
Princeton Fall Classic
The Syracuse men took sixth place in the team standings with 235 points. Sam Ricchiuti paced the Orange over the 8k course, finishing 22nd overall in 23:35.6. Ruben Rojas Betanzos was the second Syracuse finisher in 33rd place (23:48.2), followed by Omar Alsaidi in 37th (23:56.0). Asher Danielson took 45th place (24:02.7), and Drew Zundell completed the Syracuse scoring in 98th (24:27.5). Eamon Burke also ran for the Orange, placing 137th (24:47.6).
Princeton claimed the men's team title with 55 points. Oklahoma took second place with 68 points.
The Syracuse women finished 19th overall with Alycia Hart leading the Orange in 79th place with a time of 21:31.2 in the 6k race. Beatriz Fernandes was the second Orange runner across the line in 90th place (21:37.7), followed closely by Lauren Augustyn in 92nd (21:38.5). Mackenzie Cook placed 103rd (21:43.4), while Sarah Lawson rounded out the scoring in 109th (21:46.3). Grace Finnegan also competed for Syracuse, finishing in 21:47.7.
Boise State captured the women's team title with 55 points, narrowly edging out host Princeton with 57 points.
