
Field Hockey Slotted 10th in Final Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Entering the postseason, Syracuse University field hockey remains ranked 10th in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its week 10 poll Tuesday morning.
Syracuse (12-6) reached the ACC Tournament semifinals, knocking off third-seeded Wake Forest 3-1 before the Orange bowed out 3-2 against second-seeded Virginia, falling 4-1 in the shootout.
The Orange remained 10th this week, marking the first time since 2016 Syracuse has been in the top 10 for every NFHCA poll during the season. Syracuse picked up 127 points this week, just six behind Iowa in ninth.
North Carolina remained in first this week with 219 points and 10 of the 11 first-place votes. Northwestern picked up the final first-place vote alongside 202 points. Princeton was third with 199 points with Harvard (186) and Virginia (182) rounding out the top five.
Eight teams on the Orange schedule, including this weekend's NCAA Tournament opponent, are ranked this week, including newcomer Fairfield: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Princeton, No. 5 Virginia, No. 6 Liberty, No. 7 Wake Forest, No. 8 Duke, No. 19 Rutgers, and No. 20 Fairfield.
No. 10 Syracuse meets No. 6 Liberty on Friday for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at Princeton University's Bedford Field, a location at which Syracuse is 1-0 this season after knocking off then No. 11 Princeton 1-0 in overtime. ESPN+ will carry Friday's action.
