Orange, #9 Fighting Irish Meet Saturday
11/17/2025 4:31:00 PM | Football
Syracuse faces another tough challenge on the road when it takes on No. 9Â Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on NBC.
Â
The game is the final road contest of the season for the Orange as well as the last non-conference contest of the 2025 campaign. Syracuse returns home for the season finale against Boston College on Saturday, November 29 at 3 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome. Tickets are on sale now at Cuse.com/FootballTickets.
Â
Saturday's game is 'Cuse's second-straight against a ranked opponent on the road. It also marks Syracuse's fourth against a team that played in last year's College Football Playoff. Orange head coach Fran Brown is excited for the challenge that lies ahead.
Â
"We got a big game ahead of us against, in my opinion, one of the better teams in the country and one of the better head football coaches in the country," Brown said. "I can't wait to go out there and be able to compete against them, just to give us that test to see how good we are, to see where my players are. Being able to go against one of the blue bloods in college football, being able to go against one of the better head coaches in college football – we get a chance to go out there and compete against them this week. This is big for our program, this is big for our guys' confidence, for our culture."
Â
Saturday's game will be a big stage for Syracuse's underclassmen, who have gained valuable experience this season. A total of 57 underclassmen (redshirt sophomore or younger) have appeared in at least one game for the Orange in 2025. The group features 26 freshmen, 11 redshirt freshmen, eight sophomores and 12 redshirt sophomores. Sixteen of the 57 have made at least one start this season.
Â
The group will go up against one of the hottest teams in college football. After losing its first two games of the season, the Fighting Irish have won eight-straight games, including a 37-15 victory at Pittsburgh last Saturday. Notre Dame is one of the scoring teams in the nation, averaging 38.3 points per game. In addition, running back Jeremiyah Love ranks fourth nationally in rushing yards with 1,135.
Â
A win on Saturday would give the Orange their first victory against a ranked opponent this season and improve Brown's record to 5-4 against ranked teams since taking over the helm of the program in 2024.
