Men's Soccer Ends Season in First Round of NCAA Championship

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Orange men's soccer team (9-8-3) concluded its 2025 season in the First Round of the NCAA Championship after falling to Hofstra (13-5-0) in a 2-0 match.Â

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
In the first half of play, Tomas Hut was called for a foul in the box, allowing Hofstra's Laurie Goddard to take a penalty kick. Goddard netted the shot to put the Pride up 1-0 in the 19th minute. Â

Hofstra increased its lead to 2-0 as Daniel Burko found the net in the 26th minute. An assist by Goddard sealed the match for Hofstra.Â

A scoreless second half was filled with strong defense on both sides and a change in energy for the Orange. Syracuse was able to obtain possession more often in the final 45 minutes, totaling 13 shots. Hut also kept the net clear, collecting four saves and preventing additional Pride goals.Â

The Orange were unable to post any goals in the match as their season came to an end. Hofstra will move on to the Second Round to face defending champion Vermont on Sunday, Nov. 23.Â

OF NOTEÂ
- Syracuse outshot Hofstra 18-13. Three of the Orange's shots were on target.Â
- Tomas Hut collected five saves, four of which were in the second half.Â
- SU had six corner kicks compared to the Pride's four.Â
- Four Orange players remained on the field the entire 90 minutes (Hut, Tim Brdaric, Kelvin Da Costa, Kristjan Fortier).Â
