The Syracuse University volleyball team (13-14, 5-12 ACC) was swept by #4 Pittsburgh (23-4, 15-2 ACC), 3-0 (11-25, 9-25, 19-25), on Friday night at Fitzgerald Field House. The Orange struggled to find consistency on offense as they fell in straight sets to the Panthers..
Skylar George paced the offense with eight kills, with Gabriella McLaughlin close behind with six. Tehya Maeva distributed 17 assists in the match. Soana Lea'ea led Syracuse with three blocks. Pitt's Olivia Babcock led all players with 10 kills in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Syracuse couldn't find its rhythm in the opening set, falling 25-11. The Orange managed to post eight kills in the frame, but committed five errors.
The second set saw Syracuse's struggles continue. The Orange recorded four kills while hitting -.156 in a 25-9 loss. Syracuse committed nine errors on 32 attempts in the set.
Despite falling behind, 2-0, the Orange showed fight in the third set, recording nine kills. Graduate student Marisse Turner came in off the bench, recording her first two kills of the season in the set. Despite the uptick in offense, the Orange fell, 25-19, to drop the match.
