
Orange Swept by Clemson

The Syracuse University volleyball team (13-16, 5-14 ACC) closed out its road schedule on Tuesday afternoon, falling in three sets to Clemson (17-14, 5-14 ACC) at Jervey Gymnasium. The Orange dropped the match by set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 25-17.
Gabby McLaughlin led Syracuse with nine kills while adding 10 digs in the loss. Tehya Maeva distributed 24 assists and contributed nine digs. Oreva Evivie tallied four blocks, her most since ACC play began.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Clemson jumped out to an early lead in the opening set and maintained control throughout. Syracuse battled back to pull within three at 21-18, but the Tigers closed on a 4-3 run to take the set 25-21. Kate Hansen paced Clemson with five kills in the frame. Sydnie Waller rattled off three kills while adding a block in the set for the Orange.
The second set featured 13 ties as neither team could pull away. McLaughlin continued to keep the Orange in the set, recording five kills. The senior captain ripped a well-placed set from Maeva to tie things up at 24 points apiece to force extra points. However, Clemson responded with two consecutive points to escape with a 26-24 victory. Hansen added four more kills for the Tigers in the set.
Clemson controlled the third set from start to finish, racing out to a 6-2 lead and never looking back. The Tigers hit .283 in the decisive frame and closed out the match with a 25-17 win. Evivie had a pair of big blocks in the set, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Tiger attack. Hansen added seven kills in the frame and finished with 14 to lead all players, while Mia McGrath tallied 11 kills for Clemson.

UP NEXT
Syracuse returns home to wrap up the regular season on Friday afternoon when the Orange host Virginia Tech at the Women's Building. The game is set to start at 3:00 p.m. and air on ACC Network Extra.
