
5 Career Bests Set on Friday

Five Orange runners set new personal bests, while another posted their best time of the season, to open a busy weekend on the track. 'Cuse competed in meets hosted by Boston University and Clemson on Friday.
Savannah Roark and Emma Eastman were the eighth and ninth collegiate runners across the line in the 3,000-meter run at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston. Roark (9:13.81) was 25th overall in the event that had a heavy dose of professionals competing. Emma Eastman (9:15.72) set a new personal best to take 28th. Eastman was one of X 'Cuse runners to PR in the event, she was joined by Madeline Heintz (9:36.90), Nyah Hernandez (9:45.25), Bethany Steiner (9:56.87) and Olivia Shattuck (10:08.69) in also recording career bests.
Caroline Kirby (10:05.76) also raced for the Orange, while Sarah Lawson (10:07.60), Lauren Augutsyn (10:14.68), Leah Futey (10:19.41) and Sarah Cobb (10:29.52) all ran in their first collegiate 3k.
Freshman Selma Anderson was 18th among collegians (33rd overall) in the mile, where over 200 runners competed. She crossed the line in 4:44.88. The event was her collegiate track debut.
The men will race on Saturday in Boston.
Elijah Mallard ran a season-best time of 47.64 seconds in the 400-meter dash at the Bob Pollock Invitational, hosted by Clemson. Mallard was fifth overall and second among collegiate runners.
Trei Thorogood (6.73 seconds) took fifth in the 60-meter dash. He was third amongst collegiate runners in the field.
Peyton Rollins (8.72 seconds) was 16th and Taleea Buxton (8.74 seconds) was two spots behind in the 60-meter hurdles. Buxton had previously ran a time of 8.57 seconds earlier in the day in the prelims.
Action also continues on Saturday at Clemson.
