SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse men's soccer head coach Ian McIntyre and his coaching staff have added five transfers and one true freshman to the spring 2025 roster. The six new additions bring valuable college, club, and international experience to the Orange.
"We are excited to be able to add six outstanding young men to our roster at this important stage of the year," said McIntyre. "We wanted to add quality, depth, and experience to our group. I am looking forward to quickly integrating Tim, Santi, Juan, Tim, Junior, and Bryson into our strong, young group."
Tim Brdaric – Dusseldorf, Germany – Lunex University
Brdaric is a central defender with extensive international experience. He most recently competed for KFC Uerdingen in Regionalliga West in Germany. Brdaric developed within the Hannover 96 and VfL Wolfsburg academies, contributing to his successful youth career. Brdaric will be completing his M.S. in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises at Syracuse.
"We are delighted to add such a talented, experienced defender to our group," said McIntyre. "Tim is an intelligent player who will also add size and physicality to our team. Tim is a good communicator and a solid organizer of his defense. He possesses the drive and commitment to excel here at Syracuse.
Santiago Frias – Oakville, Ontario – University at Albany
Frias has competed for both the University at Albany and Akron where he started in 33 games and scored a pair of goals. He is an experienced, composed defender with one remaining year of NCAA eligibility.
"Santi is a very good soccer player who will fit in really well to the style of play of our team," McIntyre mentioned. "Santi follows some excellent Canadian players out of the Sigma program such as Olu Oyegunle, Chris Nanco, Hilli Goldhar, and Simon Triantafillou. I believe that Santi has both the physical and technical tools to make a similarly successful transition to the ACC."
Juan Martinez – Greenville, S.C. – J.L. Mann High School
Martinez, the lone true freshman in the group, was the starting goalkeeper for Charlotte FC in MLS NEXT and also saw action with Crown Legacy in MLS NEXT Pro. He helped lead Carolina Elite Soccer Academy to the 2021 ECNL National Championship and has trained with Greenville Triumph SC in USL League One.
"Juan is a young goalkeeper who we believe has the potential to compete for a starting role here at Syracuse," said McIntyre. "He is a big presence in goal, an excellent shot stopper, and he possesses a real drive to improve. Juan will fit in great within our competitive goalkeeping group under the guidance of Coach Restrepo."
Ernest Mensah Jr. – Naperville, Ill. – Xavier University
Mensah played in 52 games with 47 starts for Xavier and was recognized as a 2024 All-BIG EAST Third Team honoree. In 2023, he led his Xavier team to the NCAA Tournament and a BIG EAST Championship.
"Junior is a direct, powerful player who possesses the ability to go by opponents and provide excellent service from wide areas," mentioned McIntyre. "He is a talented, experienced player who has continued to develop within the very competitive BIG EAST Conference. I have been very impressed every time that I have watched Junior play. He is brave, aggressive, and he is always trying to impose himself on each game."
Tim Noeding – Bad Hersfeld, Germany – Bethel College
Noeding is a two-time NAIA All-American who started in 57 total games with 14 goals and 33 assists across his time at Bethel University and Palm Beach Atlantic University. In 2022, Noeding led Bethel to a National Championship and was selected as the 2022 NAIA National Player of the Year. Noeding will be completing his M.S. in Supply Chain Management at Syracuse.
"Tim has the technical ability, creativity, and college experience to make an immediate impact here at Syracuse University," said McIntyre. "He is an intelligent, dynamic player with the ability to deliver the important final pass and I am looking forward to quickly integrating him into our team."
Bryson Rodriguez - Liberia, Costa Rica – Universidad San Marcos
Rodriguez most recently competed for Municipal Liberia, while also having represented the Costa Rican Youth National Team at both U19 and U20 levels. Rodriguez was an integral part of Costa Rica securing semifinal appearances at both the U19 UNCAF Tournament and U20 CONCACAF Tournament.
"We are thrilled to add a player of Bryson's quality and pedigree to our program," McIntyre metioned. "He brings us another terrific attacking option while providing us a dangerous focal point and an outlet through which to play. Bryson complements our existing players and has the ability to score goals and create opportunities for his teammates. I am looking forward to seeing Bryson in a Syracuse shirt this fall and he is very excited to prove himself within the ACC."
