Syracuse Athletics has hired Kevin Morgan as the Athletic Department's first General Manager and Chief Revenue Officer, a newly created position within the department focused on positioning Syracuse Athletics for success in the future of intercollegiate athletics.
Morgan brings decades of experience in some of the most prominent leagues and organizations in sports. In this new role, he will focus on growing existing and creating new revenue streams and provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of all revenue generating departments at Syracuse, as well as the budget office.
"With the college athletics landscape continuing to evolve at rapid and dramatic pace, our team must also continue to evolve to remain competitive at the highest level," said Director of Athletics John Wildhack. "Kevin's depth and breadth of experience and broad skillset is exactly what Syracuse Athletics needs in this moment. Kevin will bring fresh perspective, big ideas and challenge us all to think entrepreneurially about how to advance our revenue goals."
Morgan brings a wide range of sports and private sector experiences to Syracuse, including working with or supporting organizations within the National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, Major League Baseball and National Lacrosse League.
"Success in athletics is built on more than just skill—it's about hard work, dedication, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence," Morgan said. Morgan was the NLL's Executive Vice President/Chief Revenue Officer from 2016 to 2021, where he was a key contributor to the expansion and growth of the league. He executed the NLL's expansion strategy to three new markets, secured the largest corporate partnership and capital investment in league history and garnered significant partnership revenue growth during his tenure with the league.
Morgan also had an eight-year stint with the Washington Capitals, most recently serving as the Chief Marketing Officer/Chief Revenue Officer for the team from 2004-06. He oversaw commercial sales, ticket operations, and the guest services and marketing departments. He joined the franchise as the Vice President of Sales in 1999. A 1991 graduate of William Paterson University, Morgan began his career at Automatic Data Processing (ADP), where he was the fastest employee in company history to be promoted to major accounts in 1994.
