Syracuse football players who are headed to the next level had a chance to impress NFL Personnel at Monday's Pro Day, presented by Connors & Ferris.
Nearly 50 NFL scouts and staffers were on hand from over 30 franchises to watch 14 members of the Orange test and go through position drills. ACC Network was on hand to capture the day, and will air a 30-minute show chronicling the events in the near future.
Quarterback Kyle McCord – who capped the day with a throwing session to many familiar targets from his record-breaking senior campaign – dazzled and continued to position himself to be one of the first QBs off the board come NFL Draft time. McCord only threw, opting to not bench or run, after already showcasing his skills at the NFL Combine, East-West Shrine Bowl and in various private workouts for teams.
Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. also only opted for the positional drills, being a fellow combine invitee and Senior Bowl participant.
Three others who tested at the combine partook in some additional testing on Monday. Tight end Oronde Gadsden II completed 19 reps on the bench press at 225 lbs., had a team-leading 34.5 inch vertical, 9-9 broad jump and ran a 4.59 second 40-yard dash (teams individually time all running tests and times listed are considered unofficial).
Defensive back Alijah Clark, who ran a team-best time of 4.21 seconds in the short shuttle, had a highlight-reel grab in positional drills as well.
Defensive end Fadil Diggs benched 225 lbs. 26 times, a mark that would have been good for eighth among defensive ends and edge players at the NFL Combine.
Linebackers Justin Barron and Marlowe Wax tested well. The veteran duo tied at 6.98 seconds in the three-cone drill. Wax did the short shuttle in 4.29 seconds, less than a tenth faster than Barron.
Barron measured a 34-inch vertical and Wax repped the bench press 23 times.
Wide receiver Jackson Meeks also posted a 34.5 inch vertical, tying Gadsden for the highest jump of the day. He also led all participants with a 10-foot standing broad jump. Meeks' 3-cone dill of 6.79 seconds also tied for the team-lead.
Savion Washington, measured in at 6-foot-8 and 5/8 inches and 340 pounds, and ran a 5.3 second 40-yard dash.
Max Mang, another player with impressive size, measured at nearly 6-foot-7 and 263 pounds, with an 81 2/8 inch wingspan. He had a 33.5 inch vertical, 9-7 broad jump.
Long snapper Tom Callahan repped the bench press 20 times, which tied for third on the team.
